The Test

Is actually two tests, typically taken on separate days.

Module 1 is a manoeuvres test that takes place at specially built DSA Multi Purpose Test Centres (MPTC), taking on average 22 minutes. Some of the exercises are at slow speeds, (such as a slalom and a U-Turn), and some at higher speeds, (including a 50km (31.5mph) brake and swerve manoeuvre). The test is designed for you to demonstrate a good standard of machine skill.  See below for details of the specified manoeuvres.


The Module 1 pass certificate is valid for 2 years. Those candidates who have passed Module 1 will receive a Test Pass Certificate which they must bring with them when they take Module 2.

Module 2 consists of the eyesight test, road safety questions and at least 30 minutes of road riding, covering a variety of road and traffic conditions including normal stops, hill and angle starts. 

Both modules have to be successfully completed within 2 years of passing the Theory Test or the process has to be started again again.
